Greater Fort Worth Herb Society: Home
The Greater Fort Worth Herb Society was founded in 1985 with the purpose of
"sharing knowledge of herbal folklore, planting, growing, propagating, cultivating, harvesting and using
herbs." A further goal is the fostering of education and knowledge regarding herbs and other botanical
subjects.
As a service to the community, the Herb Society plants and maintains
an Herb Garden at the Log Cabin Village. The garden contains herbs from the period
of settlement as well as more modern species since the garden is used as a teaching garden by BRIT to
instruct children and adults. The Society also maintains a pocket garden located at the Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. Headquarters in Fort Worth.
Each year, the Herb Society hosts an Herb Festival on the third Saturday in May.
In 2011, the Festival will be held on Saturday, May 21 at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Center. See our Herb Festival page to learn more about the 2010 Herb Festival, and to view future updates on the 2011 Festival.
